Instructions & Guidelines
The Palmetto Pillar Technology Awards program is dedicated to recognizing the strongest candidates for each award category:
- Technology Development
- Technology Application
- Technology in Education
- Community Service
- Small Enterprise (To enter the Small Enterprise Award category, the organization must have fewer than 50 full-time employees or less than $20 million in revenue. Companies that fit the "Small Enterprise" category are not limited to nomination in that category alone.)
- Individual Achievement
Please submit a separate form for each entry. Entries will be evaluated using the information provided on the entry form. Please insure that the information clearly explains the project from a technological perspective, its scope and impact. Volume is not as important as clarity and substance. The space allotted on the entry form indicates relative importance of each category. Ensure that you have included appropriate details.
Do not rely on attachments or marketing materials when completing each section. Describe appropriate information on the application itself. Specific details upon which the entry should be judged must be included in the appropriate category of the application. Please be aware that although additional materials may be provided as back up information, they might not be referenced by each of the judges.
Ensure that your application includes complete technical details. If a technical person does not complete the application, we strongly suggest that you have a technical person review it and add appropriate details prior to submission. Judges are evaluating these applications from a technical perspective to recognize and award innovation. It is imperative that they understand the nature of the technology, its uniqueness and impact. Be sure to concentrate on this perspective.
The winner of an award is not eligible for the same award category the following year. The company must be located in one of the following Midlands counties: Calhoun, Fairfield Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, or Richland. Any size business or organization is eligible for nomination. To enter the Small Enterprise Award category, the organization must have fewer than 50 full-time employees or less than $20 million in revenue. Companies that fit the "Small Enterprise" category are not limited to nomination in that category alone.
Winners will be announced at the annual Palmetto Pillar Technology Gala May 17, 2007.
